Bloomfield Hills residents can cast ballots for the August 4 primary election starting July 25, at City Hall, 45 E. Long Lake Road.

Early voting runs daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through August 2, according to a notice posted July 24, on the city's website. Both Precinct 1 and Precinct 2 vote at the same location: the Fire Station at City Hall.

On Election Day, August 4, polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the same Fire Station location.

The primary ballot includes statewide races for governor, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, state Senate and House, nonpartisan judicial races, and precinct delegate elections, according to the Oakland Press. Voters can view their specific ballot by contacting the City Clerk at [email protected].

Absentee ballot deadlines

Voters who want an absentee ballot mailed to them must request one by 5 p.m. July 31. Applications can be emailed to [email protected].

Those who prefer to pick up and vote an absentee ballot in person at the City Clerk's office have until 4 p.m. August 3.

A secure, 24/7 monitored drop box sits in front of the Public Safety Department at City Hall. Completed absentee ballots placed in the drop box must arrive by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Signature issues

Voters notified of a signature mismatch or missing signature on their absentee ballot application must cure the problem by 4 p.m. July 31.

A signature issue on the ballot itself carries a later deadline: 5 p.m. August 7 (three days after Election Day). The cure form can be submitted by email, mail, or in person at the Clerk's office.

What to bring

Voters must show a valid photo ID or sign an affidavit. Acceptable IDs include a Michigan driver's license or state ID (current or expired), U.S. passport, military ID, tribal ID, student ID, or a Concealed Pistol License.
