A free pre-concert Kids Zone and a set by Michigan rock band ZANG hit Shain Park on Wednesday, August 5, giving Birmingham families a full evening downtown without spending a dime.

Birmingham Parks & Recreation opens the Kids Zone at 4 p.m. with bounce houses, games and interactive activities. The zone runs until 6 p.m. It's one of only two Kids Zone dates this summer, a new addition to the concert series for 2026, according to the city's official summer concerts page. The first was Wednesday, July 1.

ZANG takes the stage at 7 p.m. The city lists the group as a "high-energy rock, pop and country" act; Bandsintown describes them as a Michigan-based party band touring municipal stages across the state this summer. The show runs until 9 p.m.

Shain Park sits at the corner of Merrill and Bates in downtown Birmingham. No tickets or registration required.

The Wednesday concert series continues through Wednesday, August 26. Full lineup details are posted at bhamgov.org.
