Bloomfield Hills voters who want an absentee ballot mailed to them for the August 4 primary have until 5 p.m. July 31 to submit their request. After that, the only option is picking one up in person at City Hall.
City Clerk Amy Burton's office posted the full slate of deadlines on the city website. Here's what voters need to know.
Key deadlines
Mail request: Applications to have an absentee ballot mailed must reach the clerk's office by 5 p.m. July 31. Voters can email a completed application to [email protected].
In-person request: Voters can request and receive an absentee ballot in person at the clerk's office until 4 p.m. August 3.
Ballot return: All absentee ballots, whether mailed or dropped off, must arrive by 8 p.m. on Election Day, August 4.
Signature cure: Voters flagged for a missing or non-matching signature on their ballot return envelope have until 5 p.m. August 7 to fix the issue by email, mail, or in person. A separate cure deadline for signature problems on the absentee application itself is 4 p.m. July 31.

Early voting is open
Early in-person voting is already underway at City Hall, 45 E. Long Lake Road. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through August 2. No absentee application is needed for early voting; registered voters simply show up.
Bloomfield Hills runs its own early voting site rather than directing residents to the Oakland County central location at Waterford Oaks Activity Center. The Oakland Press reported July 20 that Bloomfield Hills voters should contact their local clerk for early voting details rather than use the county site.
Election Day
On August 4, polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Both Precinct 1 and Precinct 2 vote at the Fire Station at City Hall, 45 E. Long Lake Road.
Drop box available around the clock
A secure, 24/7 monitored drop box sits in front of the Public Safety Department at City Hall for voters returning completed absentee ballots. Ballots deposited there must still arrive by the 8 p.m. Election Day cutoff.
