Bloomfield Hills High School will host volleyball district matches Nov. 2-6 as the Black Hawks prepare for the postseason following their first regional championship last year.

The school’s athletics calendar lists opening matches Monday, Nov. 2, at 5 and 7 p.m.; semifinals Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 5 and 7 p.m.; and the district final Friday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m.

Bloomfield Hills was featured on the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Division 1 volleyball watch list in its Week 9 report, published Oct. 21.

The Black Hawks were listed at 28-9 in the report and received an honorable mention in the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association’s Division 1 poll. They went 3-1 at the Novi Wildcat Showcase, including a win over No. 9 Clarkston, and followed that with a 3-0 sweep of Division 2 No. 2 Detroit Country Day on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Bloomfield Hills then lost 2-0 to Utica Eisenhower at the East vs. West Challenge on Saturday, Oct. 24, according to MaxPreps.

The season follows the program’s breakthrough 2025 campaign. Bloomfield Hills stood at 41-6-1 after winning its first Division 1 regional championship, sweeping Birmingham Groves 3-0 in the regional final on Nov. 13, 2025, as Hometown Life reported.

That team was led by Miss Volleyball nominee Kayla Nwabueze, who now plays for Harvard.

Geoff Kimmerly, MHSAA.com’s senior editor, wrote in the Week 9 report that the Black Hawks “have navigated some tough competition to remain among the highly-regarded.”

Detroit Country Day, the Beverly Hills independent school, was ranked No. 2 in Division 2 in the Oct. 19 coaches poll.

Country Day was listed at 14-7-1 in the Oct. 21 MHSAA report but lost 3-0 to Division 1 No. 4 South Lyon East on Thursday, Oct. 22, according to MaxPreps.

The Yellowjackets compete in Division 2, while Bloomfield Hills plays in Division 1. District play opens the postseason, with regional rounds to follow in November.
