Bloomfield Township hosts its free annual Open House on Sunday, Sept. 27, with fire truck rides, live music, free food and activities for all ages.

The event runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Township Campus, 4200 Telegraph Road, according to the township's Open House page. All 11 township departments will set up stations with activities, giveaways and information about their services. Parking is available throughout the campus.

The Bloomfield Hills High School Marching Band opens the day at 11:30 a.m., parading from the high school through the campus to the Community Television building.

The BCTV Performance Stage lineup continues with Oakland Rhythmic Gymnastics at 12:30 p.m. and Dance Academy of Bloomfield Hills at 1 p.m. Noteworthy Music Academy performs at 1:45 p.m., followed by BHHS Musical Combos at 2:30 p.m.

The Bloomfield Township Fire Department runs a live fire prevention demonstration at noon, featuring Sparky the Fire Dog.

Kids can pick up a "Passport to Fun" from the Clerk's Office and collect stamps at all 11 department stops. Completed passports enter a raffle for prizes, including rides to school in a fire truck or police cruiser, according to a township news release.

The police department will run a dunk tank, with Kona Ice sales benefiting Special Olympics. An interactive driving simulator from the Oakland County Police Academy lets visitors experience a patrol run. Bowers School Farm brings live animals, and Oakland County Parks and Recreation provides a rock climbing wall.

All food is free. Hot dogs, popcorn, ice cream, chips and chocolate will be available while supplies last. The Oakland County Public Health Department will offer health screenings and free Narcan.

More than a dozen community partners will be on site, including the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center, Bloomfield Township Public Library, Bloomfield Youth Assistance and the Rotary Club.

Township Supervisor Mike McCready wrote in the township's Summer 2025 newsletter that the event builds connections between residents and staff. "I think it's key for the community to interact with the staff that works to provide services," McCready wrote at the time.
