Birmingham Seaholm held its No. 7 spot in the Division 1 boys soccer state rankings for the week of Sept. 21, while Detroit Country Day of Beverly Hills checked in at No. 4 in Division 3.

The Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association (MHSSCA) weekly poll, published by MLive, gives the coverage area two ranked programs heading into the final weeks of the regular season.

Seaholm stays at No. 7 after rout of Bloomfield Hills

The Maples carried an 8-1-1 record into the Sept. 21 poll, unchanged at No. 7 from the previous week. Since then, Seaholm routed Bloomfield Hills 6-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 22, pushing its record to 9-1-1, according to MaxPreps.

Through 11 games, head coach Greg Perkins' squad has outscored opponents 29-4. The Maples' lone loss came at No. 6 Clarkston, a 2-1 defeat on Sept. 8.

Seaholm sits second in the Oakland Activities Association (OAA) Red division at 3-1 in league play. Troy, the division's top team, holds the No. 1 ranking in Division 1 statewide at 8-0-1. The two meet Sept. 29 in Birmingham.

Senior captains Liam Kerr, TJ Kotila and Brody Feldy lead a Seaholm squad that has allowed fewer than one goal per game this season.

Country Day slips a spot in Division 3

Detroit Country Day entered the Sept. 21 poll at No. 4 in Division 3 with an 8-3-4 record, dropping one spot from No. 3 the previous week. The Yellowjackets had scored 34 goals and allowed 15 through 15 games as of the poll, per MaxPreps. Since the poll, Country Day fell to St. Mary's Prep 4-2 on Tuesday, Sept. 22, dropping its record to 8-4-4, with 36 goals scored and 19 allowed, according to MaxPreps.

Country Day was ranked No. 4 in the Sept. 7 poll, climbed to No. 3 on Sept. 14 and slid back to No. 4 in the Sept. 21 poll. Flint Powers Catholic (9-1-3) remains the top-ranked Division 3 team.

What's ahead

Seaholm's schedule gets tougher. The Maples visit Royal Oak on Saturday, Sept. 26, then host No. 1 Troy on Tuesday, Sept. 29, and rival Groves on Thursday, Oct. 1.

Country Day hosts Monroe on Saturday, Sept. 26, and travels to Greenhills on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
