The Detroit Retro Society brings Motown, soul and funk to Shain Park on Wednesday, July 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. as Birmingham's free In the Park Summer Concert Series rolls through its second month.
The weekly shows run every Wednesday evening at the corner of Merrill and Bates streets in downtown Birmingham through Wednesday, August 26. All are free and family-friendly. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks and resource vendors set up on-site.

Kids Zone on August 5
Birmingham Parks & Recreation hosts a free Kids Zone from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, ahead of the ZANG concert. The event features bounce houses, interactive activities, games and surprises, according to the Oakland Press community calendar.
