Chef Luciano DelSignore has opened a 6,800-square-foot Italian restaurant at 115 Willits St. in downtown Birmingham that doubles as a flower-and-gift boutique, adding a retail-dining hybrid unlike anything else in the neighborhood.

The restaurant, called e Fiori, is now open, Metro Intelligencer reported Tuesday, July 28. DelSignore co-founded the venture with managing partner Nicole Antakli DelSignore. Floral designer Darin Lenhardt rounds out the ownership team, according to Crain's Detroit Business.

The concept is a first for downtown Birmingham.

Guests walk through a boutique selling flowers and gifts before reaching the gathering bar and dining room. The menu draws from all 20 regions of Italy, featuring seafood, pastas, and a vast wine list, according to Hour Detroit.

DelSignore, a Bloomfield Hills resident, is one of metro Detroit's most prolific Italian restaurateurs. He opened Bacco Ristorante in Southfield in March 2002 and ran it for 22 years before closing in March 2024. He also founded Bigalora Wood Fired Cucina, a chain of Neapolitan pizza restaurants across the Detroit area, and founded Casa Pernoi in Birmingham.

Born in Garden City to immigrant parents from the Italian region of Abruzzo, DelSignore grew up in his father Giovanni's restaurant, Fonte d'Amore, a trattoria in Livonia that opened in 1974. He spent six months working in restaurants in Sulmona and Roccaraso, Italy, before enrolling in the culinary arts program at Schoolcraft College, according to a Savor Detroit profile.

In a November 2020 Hour Detroit profile about Casa Pernoi, DelSignore said he benchmarks his restaurants against the world's best: "All I know to rate super fine dining restaurants is Michelin restaurants around the world."

e Fiori marks DelSignore's return to a standalone Italian concept roughly two years after Bacco's closure. The restaurant is open for reservations at efioribirmingham.com or 248-744-4000.
