Bloomfield Hills goalie Jonah Frank landed second-team all-state honors from the Michigan High School Lacrosse Coaches Association, capping his junior season that helped the Black Hawks reach the OAA tournament championship game and earn the No. 2 seed in their MHSAA regional.

The MHSLCA released its 2026 boys lacrosse all-state selections on Tuesday, July 28, according to The Oakland Press. Frank was among more than 75 Oakland County players recognized across divisions and positions.

Black Hawks' season

Frank's recognition follows a Bloomfield Hills season that included a semifinal win over Royal Oak in the OAA tournament before the Black Hawks fell in the final, according to Bloomfield Hills Schools. The team won its first two MHSAA playoff games after earning the No. 2 regional seed.

The goalie is also a standout in broadcast journalism. He earned second place in the news feature category at the Michigan Student Broadcast Awards, recognized at a Bloomfield Hills Schools board meeting in May 2025.

Oakland County's all-state showing

The county's massive all-state presence was fueled by two state championships. Detroit Country Day defeated Forest Hills Central 14-12 in the Division 2 title game on Saturday, June 6, in Howell, claiming the program's fifth state championship, according to MHSAA. It was the first title under new head coach JD Hess. He took over after DCD had reached at least the state semifinals in each of the previous four seasons and won it all in 2024.

Detroit Catholic Central also won a state title in 2026, according to Patch.

Birmingham United players earned all-state recognition at attack, midfield, and defense, adding to the local footprint on the MHSLCA list.

Frank will be a senior when the Black Hawks open the 2027 spring season.
