A new gymnastics and movement center for children is opening its doors in Bloomfield Hills this weekend with a free event for families.

The Little Gym of Bloomfield Hills holds its grand opening Saturday, Aug. 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 43239 Woodward Ave. in the Kingswood Square Shopping Center, according to Downtown Publications. Families with children ages four months to 12 years can tour the facility, meet instructors, and learn about the gym's class offerings.

Admission is free.

The location sits in the shopping center at Woodward and Square Lake Road, alongside tenants including Staples, Jet's Pizza, and Dunkin' Donuts.

The Little Gym is a franchise founded in 1976 in Bellevue, Washington, by gymnast and kinesiologist Robin Wes. The brand now operates nearly 400 locations worldwide, according to the company. The Bloomfield Hills location is listed as active on the franchise's official site.

Programs are built around what the franchise calls "Three-Dimensional Learning," blending physical development, cognitive skills, and social skills through gymnastics-based activities. Class categories include Parent/Child classes for ages four months to three years, Pre-K Gymnastics for ages three to six, Grade School Gymnastics for ages six to 12, and Dance for ages three to 12.

Beyond weekly classes, The Little Gym also offers birthday parties, summer camps, and what the franchise brands "Parent Survival Nights," drop-off evenings for kids while parents get a break.
