Birmingham Seaholm opens the football playoffs on the road Friday, Oct. 30, against Lakeview in St. Clair Shores.
The Division 2 district semifinal matches the 5-4 Maples against the 7-2 Huskies. Lakeview has a 62.111 playoff-point average, compared with Seaholm’s 56.444, according to the MHSAA’s playoff pairings, released Oct. 25.
The higher playoff-point average determines the host during the tournament’s first three rounds.
Seaholm closed the regular season with a 21-20 win over Utica on Oct. 23, according to its MaxPreps schedule.
The Maples qualified for the 32-team Division 2 field. MHSAA selected teams based on playoff-point average, then seeded qualifiers within four regions before placing them into districts.
Seaholm and Lakeview are in Region 3, District 2. The winner will face either Birmingham Groves or Orchard Lake St. Mary’s in a district final the weekend of Nov. 6-7.
Groves, 5-4, visits 6-3 St. Mary’s in the other district semifinal. The MHSAA lists their playoff-point averages as 56.444 and 65.667, respectively.
District semifinal tickets cost $8 and are sold online through GoFan. Fans can find purchasing links through the MHSAA ticket page.
Regional finals follow Nov. 13-14. The 11-player state championship games are scheduled for Nov. 27-28 at Ford Field in Detroit.
