Bloomfield Township homeowners face a Monday, Sept. 14 deadline to pay summer property taxes, and for the first time they can do it online through a new payment portal.

Treasurer Michael Schostak's office posted the reminder on X on Wednesday, Aug. 26, directing residents to the township's BS&A Payment Portal at bloomfieldtwpmi.gov/pay.

The portal launched May 4 and accepts property taxes, utility bills, licensing fees and other township charges. ACH and eCheck payments carry no fee. Debit and credit card payments carry a 2.9% processing fee.

Residents can set up autopay, receive electronic bills and text reminders, and pay by replying to a text message without logging in to a website or app. The system works on phones and desktops, and payments post instantly with confirmation.

When Schostak announced the portal in the township's spring newsletter, he said making it easier for residents to do business with the township had been one of his priorities since taking office.

A phone payment option is also available at 248-985-2191. In-person payments by cash, check or credit card are still accepted at the Treasurer's Office, 4200 Telegraph Rd.

Last year's summer tax deadline fell on Sept. 15 at 5:30 p.m. The township has not specified whether a cutoff time applies to the Sept. 14 deadline. Residents with questions can call the Treasurer's Office at 248-433-7705.
