Bloomfield Township residents can tour all 11 township departments, watch a live fire demonstration and try a charity dunk tank at the annual Open House on Sunday, Sept. 27.
The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the township campus, 4200 Telegraph Road, just south of Long Lake Road. Parking is available throughout the campus.
The Bloomfield Township Fire Department will run a live fire prevention demonstration at noon. The Bloomfield Township Police Department will host a dunk tank benefiting the Special Olympics and an interactive driving simulator from the Oakland County Police Academy.
Kids can pick up a "Passport to Fun" from the Clerk's Office. Each of the 11 departments stamps the passport, and completed passports enter a raffle. Prizes include rides to school from the fire and police departments.
Other activities span the campus. The Planning, Building and Ordinance Department will lead a doghouse-building station. The Department of Public Works will display its trucks. The Treasurer's Office will set up a Lego building table. Bowers School Farm will bring live animals, and Oakland County Parks and Recreation will run a rock climbing wall.
Oakland County's public health department will offer health screenings and free Narcan kits.
Four acts will perform on the Bloomfield Community Television (BCTV) Performance Stage: the Bloomfield Hills High School Marching Band, Oakland Rhythmic Gymnastics, Dance Academy of Bloomfield Hills and Noteworthy Music Academy.
Free hot dogs will be available while supplies last. Donuts and popcorn will also be on hand.
The Open House returned in October 2023 after a five-year break and moved to September in 2025. Township Supervisor Mike McCready, promoting the event in the township's summer 2025 newsletter, called it a chance for residents and staff to connect. "I think it's key for the community to interact with the staff that works to provide services," McCready wrote.
