Older adults and their families can meet face-to-face with dozens of local service providers at the 2026 Senior Resource Fair, a free event hosted by Bloomfield Township Senior Services on Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Senior Center, 4315 Andover Road.

Representatives from senior living communities, home and hospice care agencies, the Bloomfield Township Public Library and other supportive services organizations will be on hand to answer questions and share information, according to the township.

The fair is geared toward residents aged 50 and older who want to explore options for health care, housing and community programs in one stop. Past fairs have drawn vendors including Cedarbrook Senior Living, Hospice of Michigan, Waltonwood, Angela Hospice, American House and Hinderliter Hearing Services, among others. A full list of 2026 participants is available in the Fall 2026 Catalog.

No registration is listed in the 2026 announcement. Last year's fair was a complimentary, drop-in event.

The fair falls during National Senior Center Month, and it's one of several September highlights at the center. A Presidential Greatness lecture series begins Tuesday, Sept. 22, and a stand-up comedy show is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 25.

Why it matters

Bloomfield Township is already one of the most mature communities in Oakland County, and data from the Southeastern Michigan Council of Governments projects the senior population will keep growing through 2050. The Senior Center, which opened in 2009, has served more than 10,000 people.

Senior Services Director Christine Tvaroha said in January 2024, when the center marked its 15th anniversary, that BTSS has had "the honor of serving over 10,000 people with our mission of promoting wellness, community, independence, and vital living."

Beyond the fair, BTSS offers year-round supportive services including home-delivered meals, minor home repair, friendly caller check-ins, and transportation to the center and medical appointments. The center runs more than 60 group fitness classes and features a warm-water pool, indoor walking track and fitness studio.
