Ivo Goertz's goal was all Seaholm needed Tuesday, Aug. 25.

The junior's finish, set up by Brady Smith, gave the Maples a 1-0 victory over Lake Orion and pushed their record to 5-0-1 through the first week-plus of the 2026 season. Seaholm has yet to lose.

The Maples host Utica on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. in their first home game of the year.

Seaholm has been stingy defensively all season. Senior goalkeeper Brody Feldy, one of four captains, allowed just one goal across four games at the Boyne Mountain Invitational on Aug. 21-22. The Lake Orion shutout was the team's fifth clean sheet in six matches.

The offense has spread the ball around. Rowan Hanoosh led the attack at Boyne Mountain, scoring five of the team's seven goals in the tournament. Hanoosh netted twice in a 3-0 win over Romeo and added the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Detroit Country Day. Ronin McGloughlin contributed a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win over Marshall.

The lone blemish on the record is a 1-1 draw with Hudsonville at the same invitational.

Senior captains Liam Kerr and TJ Kotila opened the season in style Aug. 19, each scoring in the final 11 minutes of a 2-0 win over Brother Rice in the seventh annual Keith Bernacki Memorial Cup. A fourth senior captain rounds out the leadership group alongside Kerr, Kotila and Feldy.

Bill Watson, a retired Seaholm first responder who covers Maple athletics on X, posted the result and noted the team's home opener details.

@Bill_Watson19: "Ivo Goertz w/ the goal, assist to Brady Smith. Maples improve to 5-0-1, home opener this thurs. 8/27 at 7pm vs Utica."

Thursday's matchup with Utica gives Birmingham residents their first chance to see the squad at home this fall. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
