Tara Stover spent years building a following through personal styling and online sales. Now the Birmingham resident has a storefront to match.

Shoppe Cozette opened at 266 E. Maple Road in downtown Birmingham, filling the former Barbara Boz space with women's fashion, home goods, vintage finds and clean beauty products, Downtown Publications reported.

The shop represents the latest chapter in a family retail story that stretches back decades. In the 1970s, Stover's parents owned and operated Scarborough Square, a chain of men's and women's clothing stores across metro Detroit. In 2017, Stover and her father revived the name, opening a Scarborough Square boutique in downtown Rochester.

That store closed during the pandemic. Stover pivoted to e-commerce, launching Shoppe Cozette online. The name is French for "every little thing," Stover said in an October 2022 profile.

"Retail has been in my blood since I've been a baby," she said in that same interview. "My parents owned clothing stores back in the 70s and opening up my own Brick and Mortar was something I've always dreamed of."

The online business grew, and Stover operated a permanent pop-up inside The Good Day in downtown Birmingham before securing her own lease, according to a 2025 Voyage Michigan profile. Stover and her husband, architect Kevin Stover, redesigned the E. Maple Road storefront.

The boutique carries apparel brands including Chan Luu, Skall Studio, Dôen and Éterne alongside home décor, one-of-a-kind vintage pieces and clean beauty lines. The Birmingham Shopping District listed Shoppe Cozette among its newest retailers now open downtown.

Shoppe Cozette is open daily, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
