Three Bloomfield Hills private schools landed in the top seven on Niche's 2026 ranking of Michigan's best private high schools.

Cranbrook Schools took the No. 1 spot statewide, followed by The Roeper School at No. 4 and Academy of the Sacred Heart at No. 7, according to Niche's 2026 rankings. All three earned an overall grade of A+.

Cranbrook, the largest of the three with 1,673 students, has a 7-to-1 student-teacher ratio, while The Roeper School enrolls 402 students with a 6-to-1 ratio. Academy of the Sacred Heart has 397 students and a 7-to-1 ratio.

Niche based its 2026 rankings on factors including student and parent reviews, the quality of colleges students consider, student-teacher ratios and private school ratings. Niche dropped SAT and ACT scores from this year's methodology.

Furniture Flip Bash set for Sept. 10

The Furniture Bank of Metro Detroit is preparing for its second annual Furniture Flip Bash on Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Village Club, 190 E. Long Lake Road.

Former HGTV "Love It or List It" star Hilary Farr returns as celebrity judge after appearing at the inaugural 2025 event, Hoodline reported. WDIV Local 4 anchor Kimberly Gill, who joined the Furniture Bank's board in 2025, will emcee.

Guests can bid on refurbished furniture pieces made over by Michigan residents who entered the organization's flip challenge. The prize pool totals $10,000, with a $5,000 Best in Show grand prize and five $1,000 category awards.

The evening runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and includes food stations, cocktails and a live silent auction. General admission tickets cost $200. VIP tickets, which include a reception with Farr, cost $350.

Diane Charles, president and CEO of the Furniture Bank of Metro Detroit, said in the organization's August newsletter that the nonprofit works to ensure every family has a furnished home. The organization distributes roughly 20,000 pieces of furniture each year to families across Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties.

The Furniture Bank will also hold a ribbon-cutting at its new Madison Heights headquarters on Sept. 9 from 4 to 5 p.m., with Farr attending.
