Two Bloomfield Hills tennis players opened competition Friday, Aug. 7, at the USTA Boys Nationals in Kalamazoo, where the 18-and-under singles champion will earn a wild card into the 2026 U.S. Open, according to TennisRecruiting.net.

Abraham Rosett and Ricky Jeong are among six Michigan players in the main draw, MLive reported. The tournament runs through Sunday, Aug. 16, at Stowe Stadium on the Kalamazoo College campus and the courts of Western Michigan University, according to TennisRecruiting.net.

Rosett, a five-star recruit committed to the University of Illinois, is ranked No. 35 nationally and considered Michigan's top tennis prospect for the Class of 2027, according to MLive. He enters the 18U draw unseeded after reaching the Round of 128 at last year's nationals.

Jeong, a sophomore at Detroit Country Day School, competes in the 16U division. He won back-to-back MHSAA state singles titles, capturing the No. 1 singles championship as a sophomore with a perfect 26-0 record in 2025. A five-star recruit, Jeong is Michigan's No. 3-ranked prospect for the Class of 2028, MLive reported.

Neither player is seeded, but both enter with credentials that set them apart in a field of roughly 384 players across both age divisions, according to TennisRecruiting.net.

The stakes are real. The 18U singles champion earns a main-draw wild card to the U.S. Open men's singles, while the 16U singles champion receives a junior main-draw wild card. The tournament has crowned the country's best young players for more than 80 years, producing future pros including Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick, according to MLive and World Tennis Magazine.

The top seed in the 18U draw is Jack Kennedy of Huntington, New York, an incoming University of Virginia freshman with a career-high ATP ranking of 379. The 16U top seed is Kamil Stolarczyk of Queens, New York, according to TennisRecruiting.net.

The tournament wraps Sunday, Aug. 16, with the 18U champion heading to the U.S. Open main draw later that month.
