Seven candidates will face questions from Beverly Hills residents at a forum for the contested Village Council race on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
The League of Women Voters Oakland Area (LWVOA) is hosting the non-partisan event at Beverly Hills Village Hall, 18500 W 13 Mile Road, starting at 6:30 p.m., according to Oakland County 115 and the League's own schedule. Four council seats are on the ballot in the Nov. 3 general election, according to Birmingham Next.
The candidates are Rock Abboud, Jeffrey Campbell, John George, Racheal Hrydziuszko, Lee Peddie, David Tobaben and Dale Young. The names come from a listing by Birmingham Next, a local nonprofit serving residents 50 and older.
The race is contested. The LWVOA said it posts forum videos online within a few days of each event, so residents who cannot attend can still watch.
Residents who want an earlier look at the field can attend a separate forum hosted by Birmingham Next on Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 2121 Midvale St. in Birmingham. That event is free and open to members and guests, with questions drawn from the audience.
As we reported Aug. 28, the Beverly Hills council race is among several contested local races Oakland County voters will decide Nov. 3.
The LWVOA is also hosting forums for other Oakland County races this fall, including Keego Harbor Council on Sept. 10, Royal Oak School Board on Sept. 15 and Waterford School Board on Sept. 23, per its full schedule.
